South Lakeland

Welcome to Lakeland!  Polk County, Florida’s largest city, Lakeland is located on the Interstate- 4 corridor and is situated between Orlando and Tampa in Central Florida.  The City of Lakeland’s motto is “Close to Everything, Away From it All”.  Lakeland is a people friendly place and offers outstanding quality of life.  The Lakeland community has something for everyone including outdoor adventures, parks and recreation, arts and cultural events, great food and annual festivals.

Downtown Lakeland includes some beautiful views and is a walking-friendly city.  You can enjoy watching and feeding the wildlife and water views at Lake Morton, which is home to hundreds of swans, ducks, geese, wood storks and white ibises.  Just be careful while driving around and keep an eye out for fowl crossing the road!

Lakeland’s population has grown steadily over the past forty years and is currently around 100,000 residents.  Our top employment industries include government, education and health services, professional and business services, retail, leisure and hospitality, manufacturing and transportation and warehouse.  Some of Lakeland’s top employers are Publix Super Markets, Lakeland Regional Medical Center, the City of Lakeland, GEICO Insurance and Watson Clinic.

Lakeland is also the spring training home of the Detroit Tigers baseball team that trains at Joker Marchant Stadium and draws many visitors each spring.  Downtown Lakeland is a quaint and vibrant area where you can walk through Munn Park or sit and relax on many restaurants’ outdoor patios and enjoy the wonderful Florida weather.  Each Independence day thousands join together to enjoy the Fourth of July fireworks show at Lake Mirror.  During the summertime you can stroll the shops through downtown on “First Fridays “ each month or sit picnic style around the lake to enjoy movies in the park with family and friends.  Saturday mornings come to the downtown farmer’s market or enjoy a fresh brewed cup of coffee from one of the boutique bistros along the plaza.  Lakeland offers two shopping malls, Northside at Lakeland Square Mall and on the Southside at Lakeside Village’s outdoor mall with Cobb Theatres 18 cinema center.  Outdoor enthusiasts will love observing our natural wildlife and fishing in over 600 freshwater lakes and rivers.  There are many parks and recreation facilities that include public boat ramps, observation piers, playgrounds, ball fields or tennis courts.  We also have several private and public golfing clubs in the area including Cleveland Heights Golf Club near downtown.

In general, the greater area includes north Lakeland, south Lakeland and central Lakeland.  South Lakeland is just south of the Polk Parkway and includes the 33811, 33812 and 33813 zip code areas shown on the map above.  Whether your family is relocating or a current resident of Lakeland, you can search available homes for purchase in many price ranges using our specific search links above.  We would love to help you find the perfect home to buy.  Just give one of our agents a call at 863-647-1679 and let us get started on your home search today!
